About the Odel Johnson Foundation
The Odel Johnson Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in West Covina, California, dedicated to empowering youth and communities through music, culture, and creative expression.
Founded by Lynden “Odel” Johnson, a lifelong musician and cultural advocate, the foundation believes that music is a universal language — one that has the power to inspire growth, promote unity, and transform lives.
Our work bridges continents and communities, connecting Los Angeles with our roots in Jamaica, where we operate a community center providing music and arts access to youth.

“We don’t just teach music — we teach confidence, connection, and culture.”

Our Mission
To empower individuals and communities through music and culture by creating accessible programs that inspire creativity, build leadership, and strengthen cultural identity.
Our Vision
To build a world where every young person, regardless of background, has the opportunity to learn, perform, and thrive through music.

Our Roots Run Deep
What began as a small initiative to bring youth together through music in Jamaica has grown into a cross-cultural movement.
The Foundation’s community center in Jamaica continues to serve as a safe haven for youth to learn, perform, and develop skills in music and arts.
In the U.S., our partnership with Coyote Studios in Los Angeles allows us to expand those same opportunities to local youth and emerging artists.
Together, these spaces create a bridge between cultures — uniting communities through rhythm, education, and shared creativity.
The Odel Johnson Foundation's work extends internationally through the Wildcane Community Center in Jamaica and a sister site in Africa. Both centers focus on organic farming, education, and athletics - creating sustainable opportunities for youth and families. These centers are pillars of empowerment and symbols of what community-driven development can ac
